Monday Playlist #11 – The World Is On Fire

The impressions of floods, forest fires, storm damage, and heatwaves in all corners of the world are too intense for us to not be aware that the consequences of climate change are hitting with full force. Quoting the words of Greta Thunberg, “Without that sense of urgency, how can we, the people, understand that we are facing a real crisis.”                                  

From 31 October to 13 November 2021, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (more commonly referred to as COP26) took place in Glasgow. What exactly was the purpose of this conference? Was it successful? How does it affect us? We’ve picked out some videos that answer all these questions for you. 

#1 What does three degrees of global warming look like? 

Why is the world trying to limit global warming to 1.5°C? What will happen in a world where global warming is 3°C? This video will provide you with some eye opening facts about the world around you today. 

#2 The Make-Or-Break Issues facing the COP26 Climate Summit

The painful reality suffusing the conference was that the world is failing to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, despite promising to do so in the Paris agreement of 2015. We are actually moving in the opposite direction.
